Introduction
This is a Specialist position responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the activities and programmes of the Capricorn Foundation. This position reports to the Group Executive: Brand and Corporate Affairs/Executive Officer: Capricorn Foundation as well as to the Board of the Capricorn Foundation.
Job description

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s)
Strategy Intent & Execution:
  • Ensure compliance to relevant regulatory and legal requirements for a Section 21 company, with support from the Group Company Secretariat and Group Compliance
  • Execute on the strategic direction of the Capricorn Foundation as approved by the Foundation Board and in line with the Group CSR policy
  • Ensure that the Foundation contributes to positioning Capricorn Group as a Connector of Positive Change and as a caring and responsible corporate citizen, externally and internally to its employees
  • Actively identifying and assessing projects that can be supported by the Foundation that falls within the identified primary and supplementary focus areas and making recommendations to the Foundation’s Management Committee and Board
  • Develop strategies and materials for the communication of the Capricorn Foundation initiatives to all internal and external audiences, ensuring overall messaging consistency across business units and throughout corporate communications
  • Manage the reputation of the Capricorn Foundation as a responsible corporate citizen that creates sustainable opportunities for advancing and improving the economic and social conditions in the communities in which we operate

Stakeholder Engagement & Management & Communication
  • Responsible for building and maintaining close relations with multiple internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicating with these stakeholders through the execution of the Foundation’s stakeholder engagement plan
  • Communicating the activities of the Foundation through a focused public relations strategy
  • Managing the Capricorn Foundation’s social media platform content including the website
  • Consult and liaise with relevant government and public sector representatives to confirm national priority areas and to identify opportunities for partnerships and collaboration
  • Creating awareness amongst stakeholders on the Capricorn Foundation, its vision, and objectives
  • Seeking partnerships with like-minded institutions and organizations to collaborate on projects
  • Seeking additional funding for the Foundation apart from the contribution by subsidiary companies including local and international donor agencies
  • Acts as an official spokesperson of the Capricorn Foundation, presenting the Capricorn Foundation on various public platforms
  • Work closely with the Group’s Communication Practitioner for Stakeholder Engagement and Communication in creating opportunities for employee volunteerism (#Changemaker initiatives)

Operational output:
  • Day-to-day running of the Foundation and all the administrative tasks associated with it including budgeting, financial management and reporting
  • Receiving applications to the Foundation and correspondence with applicants as well as assessing applications against a checklist for recommendation to the Foundation’s Management Committee
  • Scheduling of monthly Management Committee meetings, preparing submissions for the Committee and writing and distribution of the minutes of the meetings
  • Officially correspond with beneficiaries of the Foundation through a contractual letter outlining the terms of the funding
  • Ensuring compliance of the Foundation and its beneficiaries to the relevant AML requirements
  • Ongoing engagement and communication with beneficiaries of the Foundation including conducting site visits for monitoring and evaluation purposes and receiving quarterly status reports.
  • Developing, implement and review tools and processes for the smooth running of the Foundation including application forms, monitoring and evaluation tools as well as reporting templates
  • Ensuring annual compliance to the Welfare Registration board of the Ministry of Health and Social Services

Reporting:
  • Monthly status report including recommendations on new projects to the Management Committee for recommendation to the Board
  • Drafting of quarterly status report for the Board on the overall activities of the Foundation including the status of the activities of the beneficiaries and the impact of their programmes
  • Coordinate the production of the annual Social Value Report as part of the Integrated Annual Report

Minimum requirements

Job Specifications
Qualifications & Experience
  • Relevant Degree in Communication/HR/Humanities/Industrial or Social Psychology
  • Honours degree would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Investment, Brand &/ Corporate Affairs
  • Experience within an NGO environment/Welfare Organization (not-for-profit) would be a strong advantage
