Introduction
Responsible for evaluating and analysing customer data relating to Retail Banking products and services. Assessing and developing business solutions in order to improve performance for Retail Banking Branches, Unsecured Lending Branches, Bancassurance and Specialised Lending (Vehicle, Mortgage & Asset Finance). Direct sales and business performance through the use of customer and operations data and communicating insights and trends via business reports with a variety of departmental heads. As a business analyst, you'll will be supporting the Retail branch network with insights derived from data analysis, and all distribution channels (Call Centre, Mobile, Internet, Direct Marketing), helping to manage change and plan for the future in line with company goals. This could be for one specific project, or multiple projects as a permanent feature of the analyst job requirements. Exhibit a good understand of the current retail and organisational performance, in order to identify future needs and create solutions to help meet those needs. Evaluate and communicate retail banking performance data and present information relating to the efficiency of processes and systems. Have an excellent understanding of the way retail banking works and the sectors it operates in, in order to help the retail banking team to develop its functions, services and products to meet goals with internal and external stakeholders. Play a key role in communicating between internal departments and external parties and acting as a 'translator' where necessary to show how systems and processes can support retail banking needs.
Job description

 

 

  1. Primary Purpose of This Position

As a business analyst, you will need to:

·        Generating, analysing and tracking retail branches, BG Finance sales performance, Specialised Lending and Bancassurance

·        Preparing of reports (EMT, Board, Bank of Botswana, NBFIRA, Regulatory Reports)

·        Gather and compiling data for retail management forums.

·        Communicate with internal colleagues to understand the needs of departments and the organisation as a whole;

·        Work with external stakeholders to understand and investigate feedback into the service/function/product provided;

·        Use data modelling practices to analyse findings and create suggestions for strategic and operational improvements and changes;

·        Consider the opportunities and potential risks attached to the suggestions made;

·        Identify the processes and systems required to introduce recommendations;

·        Gain agreement, usually from senior management, of the best method of introducing recommendations to the business;

·        Communicate the benefits of recommendations across departments and help to address any uncertainty and concern;

·        Produce written documentation to support work, report on findings and to present to stakeholders when necessary;

·        Support the staff and teams in making the recommended changes, including helping to resolve any issues;

·        Ensure plans are made and processes are created to evaluate the impact of the changes made, including taking responsibility for overseeing and reporting on these evaluations

 

2.      Customer Focus

·          Interpret and communicate the Retail Bank’s market and sales deliverables into a customer focused reports and growth proposals;

·          Continue to inform internal partners key to the sales support value chain on the retail customer requirements

·          Facilitate functional interventions in the bank on behalf of Retail Bank where sales support activities could realise efficiencies, standardisation, automation and consolidation resulting in cost efficiencies, improved customer experience and better systems leading to improved turnaround times for the frontline

·          Use business data to direct and inspire team members to deliver appropriate product ranges that meet and exceed customer expectations.

·          Perform customer data quality assurance

·          Define sales reporting and performance alerting requirements

·          Own and develop relationship with partners, working with them to optimise and enhance retail banking sales performance

·          Help design, document and maintain retail banking sales system and processes

·          Communicate key sales insights and findings to product teams

·          Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve sales monitoring, discover service issues and deliver better value to the customer

 

 

3.      Profitability and risk Management

·        Generating weekly and ad hoc reports in respect of personal loans/schemes.

·        Publish loan age analysis reports for use by branch managers, head of retail and credit.

·        Generating analysis and distributing monthly budgets vs actual reports for retail advances and deposits and loan products for use by retail management and credit

·        Generating individual sales consultant and arrears reports and forwarding them to the Retail Branches, Specialist Finance, BG Finance Branches and Credit

·        Compiling and computing of Retail Branches, Specialist Finance, and BG Finance Branches, annual budgets

·        Compile EMT and Board Reports by providing analysis, insights end performance trends

·        Compile data and information and performance trends required for conferences content and discussion packs

 

 

4.       Reports

 

·        Compile, analyse and interpretation of ad hoc bank of Botswana reports

·        Compile Bankers Association and Institute of Bankers reports

·        Compile retail banking action lists

·        Compile retail banking quarterly performance reports for KRI evaluations and discussions

·        Compile retail banking monthly performance reports relative to budgets and report on variances

 

5.      Administration Support

 

·        Provide data to team members in order to help achieve operational and sales targets

·        Provide data insights that will assist in prioritisation of sales activities.

·        Ensure proper customer data quality management.

·        Provide data to help manage business risks

·        Based on gaps identified through the use of data, motivate requests to the head of retail banking for additional resources including people, budget and equipment..

·        Rigorously monitor expenditure against approved budgets

·        Continuously identify areas for improved efficiency and reduced cost.

·        Populate balanced scorecards for the specific retail banking business units on a monthly basis. Work with the team to address shortcomings and escalate any major issues identified to the next level manager 

 

6.      People Management

·          Provide business performance data for the respective retail banking divisions i.e. Performance Score Cards required for performance discussions and submitted on time;

·          Information liaison between the Head of Retail and his/her direct subordinates

·          Face-to-Face inter-action with direct subordinates of the Head of Retail for EMT/Board Reports and queries.

·          Maintain strong relationship with all Retail Branch Managers, Specialist Finance Managers, BG Finance Sales Manager, Bancassurance Manager, MIS Analyst, Rigour Officer in order to facilitate co-operation and the smooth running of required processes,

Minimum requirements

Qualifications

Min of a Bachelor’s degree with excellent analytical skills

Experience

 

At least 5 years’ sales and banking experience on management level;

Knowledge of banking products and services offered in local market;
