Responsible for the Accounting and Administration of the Treasury Operations in respect of Money Markets, Derivatives and Custodial Services. Monitoring the tasks performed by the subordinates and people management.
Job description

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

1. TREASURY ACCOUNTING

1.1 DAILY

            Check/Review accounting for transactions for the following treasury related products:

  • Interest Rate Swaps, Treasury Bills, Bonds, Bond Futures, Forward Rate Agreements, Unit Trust, Loans, Money Market
    • And other client designed products
  • Review and clear the following accounts in collaboration with the recon officer:
    • All relevant office accounts: accounts in Phoenix
    • ABSA Settlement Account
    • Bank of Namibia Settlement Account
    • IBS and Treasury NAD SAP accounts
    • ABSA Bond Futures Accounts
  • Other treasury specific general ledger accounts
  • Ensure accuracy of Interbank movements and interest accruals
  • Check/Review intersystem accounts daily for unreconciled items and provide recon to Manager: International Operations
  • Ensure Bank Statement uploads for four Housebank daily
  • Approve journal batch above processing offices limits

1.2 MONTHLY

·      Review reconciliations treasury product accounts

·      Request statements for Unit Trust, Loan, Call Deposits and Collateral accounts from clients

·      Ensure completion of the maturity list of funding products

·      Ensure accurate monthly Interbank and collateral interest payments and receipts

·      Monitor unreconciled items on main and sub accounts for GL170350, 170440 and 170740

·      Ensure journal entries processed for Unit Trust dividends earned

1.3 AD HOC

·      Co-ordinate payment for treasury expenses with finance department

·      Review client balance confirmation for audit and tax purposes

·      Assist and resolve with audit queries from external auditors

·      Diarise reset dates for Derivatives and Bonds

2. ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS

2.1 DAILY TASKS 

·      Process and monitor department error request of system application (NSF Rejections)

·      Process and monitor change requests to change control

·      Assist with client queries

·      Authorise expenses and petty cash payments

·      Signing of NCD, Fixed Deposits, Treasury Bills, Bonds certificates and correctness thereof

·      Review and follow-up on confirmation letters  

2.2 AD HOC

  • Provide training on SAP to Treasury Back Office
  • Conduct meetings to Treasury Back Office on Circulars, Policies and
  • Review processes and procedure manuals 

3. PAYMENT AND SYSTEMS 

3.1 NISS, FMC AND EPAC SYSTEM

·      Authorisation of NISS and EPAC Payments

·      Correspondence regarding NISS with BON, branches and other commercial banks

·      Authorise/review collateral inputs

·      Daily management and review of the NISS settlement system as well as reconciling with the Phoenix system

·      Settle and Post Money Market, Bonds, Treasury Bills and Derivatives in FMC

·      Extract reports from FMC and SAP for reconciliation purposes 

4. CUSTODIAN

·      Follow-up and escalate incomplete client instructions

·      Ensure that stock collateral reconcile with Custodian Register and NISS

·      Secondary custodian of script on behalf of clients

·      Review master data captured on FMC

·      Relieve Supervisor: Custodian Services during his/her absence

·      Understanding CSD Operations 

 5. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 

  • Effective management of direct reports, internal controls and well-being
  • Evaluate and manage the performance of direct staff resources to achieve a high standard of competence, motivation and service orientation
  • Responsible for full performance management process of direct reports

6. GENERAL

·      Ensure that proper record- keeping procedures are in place and adhered to

·      Continuously scrutinise and improve existing procedures

·      Ensure proper knowledge of systems and procedures

·      Ensure timeously completion of all correspondence to clients

·      Responsible for Data Quality follow-up and maintenance

·      Any other reasonable and lawful instruction as given to the incumbent by his/her supervisor

·      Ensure that no losses occur as a result of omissions

·      Ensure completion of FIA checklist for new/existing clients

·      Scrutinise and sign off customers confirmations

·      Responsible for records archiving and retention

·      Responsible for logging and follow-up on Manage Engine calls for department

·      Reconciliation of Social Club account

·      Responsible for Petty Cash and refreshments are adequately stocked

·      Review and amend Phoenix Processing Limits for Treasury department

·      Responsible for Procurement Request and follow up on service delivery by vendors

·      Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new business requirements/changes in business requirements in FM Canvas, APPWORKS, PHOENIX, NISS, SWIFT MX and SAP Treasury

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Diploma in Accounting and/or Treasury
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field will be an added advantage
  • Management Development Program
  • ACI Operations Certificate
