PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Responsible for the preparation, accuracy, and timely submission of statutory, regulatory, management, tax, and consolidated financial reporting for Bank Windhoek and selected group entities, in compliance with IFRS, Bank of Namibia, NAMFISA, and tax legislation. The role supports audit processes, strengthens financial controls, and contributes to automation and process improvement across financial reporting.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs)
1 Statutory, Regulatory & Risk Reporting
- Prepare and submit statutory returns to Bank of Namibia and NAMFISA on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, Basel III, and applicable banking regulations.
- Perform and review IFRS-related calculations (including impairments, provisions, and complex accounting entries).
- Draft IFRS technical accounting memoranda for complex, non-routine, or judgemental transactions, documenting accounting positions, management judgements, and conclusions in line with IFRS and regulatory expectations.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of regulatory submissions.
- Address and resolve all regulator queries professionally and timeously.
- Support automation of IFRS and regulatory calculations to strengthen controls.
2 Financial Accounting & Management Reporting
- Prepare and post complex monthly journals.
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist with treasury month-end to ensure accurate accounting records for the management accounts.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in SAP and related reporting systems.
3 Taxation
- Prepare annual and provisional income tax calculations, returns, and payments for Bank Windhoek and selected subsidiaries.
- Prepare income tax reconciliations and support tax disclosures in financial statements.
- Liaise with NAMRA on tax submissions and queries.
4 Consolidated & Group Financial Reporting
- Assist with preparation and finalisation of consolidated Annual Financial Statements for Bank Windhoek Group.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual consolidation schedules and journals.
- Maintain accounting records for subsidiaries and prepare standalone Annual Financial Statements.
- Assist with preparation of half-yearly and annual publication documents (including JSE-related disclosures where applicable).
- Prepare financial information for board, audit committee, and other governance forums.
5 Audit & Assurance
- Coordinate and support interim and year-end external audits.
- Prepare audit packs and respond to audit queries from external and internal auditors.
- Assist in resolving audit findings and implementing agreed corrective actions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external auditors.
6 Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure professional, prompt, and accurate responses to all reporting-related queries.
- Build effective working relationships to improve turnaround times and reporting efficiency.
7 Governance, Risk & Controls
- Assist in implementing and maintaining financial reporting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory, and internal governance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of reporting processes and control environments.
8. Ad-hoc & Strategic Support
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting support to the Financial Reporting Manager and Finance leadership.
- Participate in finance projects, system enhancements, and regulatory change implementations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Experience & Technical Skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial accounting / reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
- Sound understanding of Income Tax, and Indirect Taxes.
- Experience with regulatory reporting in a banking environment.
- Advanced Excel; strong MS Word and PowerPoint skills.
- SAP experience will be advantageous.

Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Completed audit articles with a reputable audit firm
- Chartered Accountant qualification
