Support the Manager: Projects Accounting with the accounting, monitoring and reporting of the group projects costs.
Job description
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)
1. Financial reporting
• Assist in preparing the month-end bookings for correct accounting of project costs
• Download project costs and distribute to Project Managers on a monthly basis for review
• Consolidate feedback from Project Managers.
• Address queries from Project Managers concerning project cost related issues and communicate with finance.
• Assist in the appropriate accounting treatment of project costs and early identification of cost overruns on projects.
• Support in the preparation of documentation for reporting and presentation purposes.
• Support in the handling costs and reporting of the Resource Centre and other Cost Centres
2. Administrative Duties
• Take accurate minutes of meetings for project finance meetings.
• Do the filing of project documentation relevant to project finances.
• General administrative duties
• Must be prepared /willing to do any other reasonable and lawful instruction/task.
3. Transactional accounting
• Assist to provide timely and accurate information to finance to ensure accurate and timely allocation and processing of project transactions.
• Assist the process to ensure that account allocations and payments are correctly processed and authorised in line with policy and process parameters.
4. Financial Planning and Budgeting
• Assist in effective and efficient preparation and processing of budget information on the accounting systems, e.g. SAP and TM1, in accordance with company rules, regulations, accounting principles and policies.
• Assist with the ongoing measuring and monitoring of actuals against budget to assess
progress and to identify problem / risk areas and / or growth opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to all set deadlines related to the processing of budget information.
5. Special Projects
• Assist with the pre- and post-implementation evaluations of new and existing projects to confirm financial feasibility/outcomes.
• Ensure that both internal and external customers are treated in a helpful, professional and friendly manner.
• Responsible for performing other ad hoc duties as appropriate and as requested by Manager: Projects Accounting and Head: Management Accounting

Minimum requirements
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• At least 2 to 4 years working experience in the Financial Accounting field
• Knowledge of business & administration procedures
• Knowledge of the accounting systems and processing activities
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Must have an aptitude for detail and critical analysis
• SAP experience will be an added advantage
• Computer literacy essential (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Detail conscious
• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and networking capability on different hierarchical levels
• Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency in English
QUALIFICATION
• Degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent financial qualification required
• Experience in Project Management is an advantage
