Introduction
Responsible for effective and efficient execution of all day-to-day management accounting activities as well as the provision of support and assistance to the Management Accountant Officer and the Manager: Management Accounting with regards to management and control of the management accounting processes within the Bank.
Job description
1. Management and Cost Accounting
- Assist with control over costs and expenditure for the Bank by drawing monthly reports to analyse and interpret exceptions. This includes following up on identified exceptions, obtaining satisfactory explanations and preparing a monthly report to the Manager: Management Accountant.
- Responsible for the preparation and interpretation of financial statistics to the branches and support units. This includes the preparation of monthly reports explaining possible reasons for adverse variances in reasonable time.
- Assist with accurate preparation of management accounts and distribution to business units/segments in a timely manner
- Assist with the prevention of revenue leakages through the analysis and interpretation of monthly exception reports and reporting the leakages to the Manager: Management Accountant.
2. Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Responsible for effective and efficient preparation and processing of all budget information on the accounting systems, e.g. SAP and TM1, in accordance with company rules, regulations, accounting principles and policies.
- Responsible for the input of information for the consolidation and preparation of the annual budgets, revised estimates and rolling financial forecasts for the Bank and its subsidiaries.
- Assists with the application of financial models in order to perform “what if” forecasting scenarios and financial options based on changing variables.
- Assist with the ongoing measuring and monitoring of actuals against budget to assess progress and to identify problem / risk areas and / or growth opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all set deadlines related to the processing of all budget information.
3. Pricing and fees
- Assist with analysing competitor pricing, assess market share and margins, and track customer engagement in order to gain a complete picture of effective pricing strategies for the bank
- Assist with annual pricing review and updating the Fee Poster and Brochure in compliance with the Bank policy and BoN requirements and regulations
- Assist with the preparing both written reports and visual presentations on transaction volume and pricing analysis findings at a monthly meeting, with insights, trends, and suggestions to appropriate committees and occasionally to executives.
4. Special Projects
- Assist with the pre- and post-implementation evaluations of new and existing projects to confirm financial feasibility/outcomes.
- Assists with the impact calculations of new revenue streams
- Ensure that both internal and external customers are treated in a helpful, professional and friendly manner.
- Ensure that all day-to-day customer queries are handled in a timeous manner and feedback provided to clients.
- Responsible for performing other ad hoc duties as appropriate and as requested by Management Accounting Officer, Manager: Management Accounting and Head: Management Accounting
- Ensure effective and efficient completion and updating of all operational checklists in the department at all times and within set deadlines.
Minimum requirements
Experience/Knowledge & Skills
- At least 3 years’ working experience in the management accounting field preferably in the financial industry
- Knowledge of accounting systems (SAP and TM1) and processing activities
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and ownership
- Ability to perform well under pressure, meet strict deadlines and deliver high quality of work
- Must have an aptitude for detail and critical analysis with good problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal relationship skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess good time management, planning and organizing skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours when required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution AND
- Completed articles at a reputable audit company OR
- Partly qualified management accounting professional
- Experience in the banking sector will be an added advantage
