Introduction
The dynamic and experienced Senior Manager will lead our Business Re-engineering initiatives within the banking sector. The Manager will possess a deep understanding of banking operations, regulatory requirements and emerging trends in financial services. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in driving transformative change to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience. As such, the position manages the creation and maintenance of re-engineered processes and procedures for the Capricorn Group.
Job description

Key Performance Areas:

Performance management

1.     Strategic Planning:

·       Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for business process re-engineering (BPR) aligned with Bank Windhoek’s strategic objectives.

·       Identify opportunities for operational improvement, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement through re-engineering initiatives.

·       Improve customer experience through re-engineering initiatives.

·       Stay abreast of developments in the business analysis and process re-engineering domain to ensure frameworks, methods and standards used are up to date with domain best practices.

2.     Process Analysis and Redesign: Lead the analysis and evaluation of existing banking processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and redesign. Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization whilst improving customer experience.

3.     Change Management:

·       Drive change management initiatives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the bank.

·       Engage stakeholders at all levels to communicate re-engineering goals, gain buy-in, and facilitate smooth implementation of changes

4.     Cross-functional Collaboration:

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT (e.g. process automation-, Core-, PMO platforms), finance, Retail Banking Services, and human resources to align business re-engineering efforts with overall business strategies and ensure seamless implementation.

·       Champion innovation initiatives to enhance service delivery, operational resilience, and competitive advantage.

5.     Risk Management and Compliance:

·       Ensure re-engineering initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

·       Identify and mitigate risks associated with process changes, technology implementations, and operational transformations.

6.     Performance Measurement:

·       Define and implement KPIs and metrics to measure the success and impact of re-engineering projects.

·       Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to communicate project progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.

7.     Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with senior executives, department heads, and key stakeholders to communicate re-engineering goals, solicit feedback, and gain buy-in for proposed changes.

8.     Assess feasibility and subsequently implement standardization framework for the bank. E.g. ISO 9001 principles of continuous improvement (or equivalent).

          9.     Oversee the distribution and governance of Bank Windhoek Circulars.

        10. Be willing to perform any other reasonable and lawful duties assigned by management.

People Management 

·       Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of business analysts, process improvement specialists, and project managers. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to foster a high-performance culture.

·       Resource Allocation: Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, budget, and time, to ensure the successful execution of business re-engineering projects. Delegate responsibilities and empower team members to contribute to project goals.

·       Performance Management: Establish clear performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement and achievement of goals.

·       Recruitment and Onboarding: Collaborate with HR to recruit top talent for the team. Participate in the interviewing and selection process, ensuring alignment with team objectives and company culture. Facilitate smooth onboarding processes to integrate new hires into the team and the wider banking culture.

·       Training and Development: Identify skill gaps within the team and develop training programs to enhance capabilities in business process re-engineering, change management, and other relevant areas. Encourage continuous learning and professional growth among team members.

·       Conflict Resolution: Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges that arise within the team or between team members and stakeholders. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment built on trust and mutual respect.

·       Cross-functional Collaboration: Promote cross-functional collaboration and communication within the team and across departments. Facilitate knowledge sharing, best practices, and lessons learned to drive organizational alignment and synergy.

·       Recognition and Motivation: Recognize and celebrate team achievements and milestones. Motivate team members by acknowledging their contributions and fostering a sense of pride and ownership in their work.

·       Develop and implement comprehensive succession planning for the business processes re-engineering team within the bank.

·       Lead by example in fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and equality among team members and stakeholders.

 

Minimum requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Qualifications:

·       4 Year bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

·       Proven experience (10 years) in business process re-engineering, change management, or operations management, with a track record of successfully leading large-scale transformation projects. Includes the development of a business capability models, experience in the development of a Process Repository including in depth knowledge of the APQC standard and the BPMN 2.0 Methodology and knowledge of Business Process Management (BPM) and BPM software solutions.

·       Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex processes and data sets, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop practical solutions.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

·       Solid understanding of emerging technologies and their potential applications in process improvement (e.g., automation, AI, digital transformation).

·       Demonstrated expert knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and other process improvement frameworks.

·       Knowledge of standardization framework implementation (e.g. ISO) an added advantage.

·       Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
