Introduction
The Desktop Engineer is a key field-based support role responsible for delivering on-site IT support services to end-users across the organisation’s head office and branch locations. This role extends beyond standard service desk duties by requiring physical presence at user locations to provide hands-on technical support. The engineer ensures timely resolution of hardware, software, and networking issues, particularly those that cannot be addressed remotely. The engineer must display a high degree of customer focus, professionalism, and calmness under pressure while working independently or collaboratively to resolve IT incidents and service requests.
Job description
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs):
• Providing professional on-site IT support to end users.
• Supporting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, docking stations, cables, and related end-user equipment.
• Troubleshooting hardware, software, Microsoft 365, desktop environment, and basic network-related issues.
• Travelling to branch locations to resolve issues that cannot be handled remotely.
• Logging, updating, documenting, and closing incidents and service requests in the service desk system.
• Assisting with device setup, deployment, relocation, collection, redeployment, and disposal.
• Collaborating with internal IT teams, vendors, and business users to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
• Complying with IT governance, security, risk management, and data privacy requirements.
• Contributing to continuous service improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical improvements.

Minimum requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Matric / Grade 12.
• A valid Namibian passport.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• 2–4 years’ experience in an IT support or customer-centric technical support environment.
• A , N , S , or relevant CompTIA certifications.
• Microsoft desktop support or Microsoft 365 certification.
