Introduction
We are looking for a customer-focused Desktop Engineer to provide hands-on IT support to users at head office and branch locations.
This role requires on-site support for desktop, laptop, printer, peripheral, software, hardware, and basic network-related issues that cannot always be resolved remotely. The successful candidate must be professional, service-driven, reliable, and comfortable travelling to support users across different locations.
Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Providing professional on-site IT support to end users.
- Supporting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, docking stations, cables, and related end-user equipment.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, Microsoft 365, desktop environment, and basic network-related issues.
- Travelling to branch locations to resolve issues that cannot be handled remotely.
- Logging, updating, documenting, and closing incidents and service requests in the service desk system.
- Assisting with device setup, deployment, relocation, collection, redeployment, and disposal.
- Collaborating with internal IT teams, vendors, and business users to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
- Complying with IT governance, security, risk management, and data privacy requirements.
- Contributing to continuous service improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical improvements.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- A valid Namibian passport
- A valid driver’s licence
- 2–4 years’ experience in an IT support or customer-centric technical support environment
- A , N , S , or relevant CompTIA certifications
- Microsoft desktop support or Microsoft 365 certification
Qualifications and Certifications
- Azure certification will be advantageous.
- ITIL Foundation certification will be advantageous.
- IT-related tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
Required Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate should have knowledge and skills in:
- Windows desktop operating systems.
- Microsoft 365 support.
- VDI
- Desktop, laptop, printer, peripheral, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Basic networking, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Remote support tools.
- Basic IT security awareness.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical users.
- Practical problem-solving and time management.
