Introduction
We are looking for a customer-focused Desktop Engineer to provide hands-on IT support to users at head office and branch locations. This role requires on-site support for desktop, laptop, printer, peripheral, software, hardware, and basic network-related issues that cannot always be resolved remotely. The successful candidate must be professional, service-driven, reliable, and comfortable travelling to support users across different locations.
Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing professional on-site IT support to end users.
  • Supporting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, docking stations, cables, and related end-user equipment.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, Microsoft 365, desktop environment, and basic network-related issues.
  • Travelling to branch locations to resolve issues that cannot be handled remotely.
  • Logging, updating, documenting, and closing incidents and service requests in the service desk system.
  • Assisting with device setup, deployment, relocation, collection, redeployment, and disposal.
  • Collaborating with internal IT teams, vendors, and business users to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
  • Complying with IT governance, security, risk management, and data privacy requirements.
  • Contributing to continuous service improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending practical improvements.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • A valid Namibian passport
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • 2–4 years’ experience in an IT support or customer-centric technical support environment
  • A , N , S , or relevant CompTIA certifications
  • Microsoft desktop support or Microsoft 365 certification

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Azure certification will be advantageous.
  • ITIL Foundation certification will be advantageous.
  • IT-related tertiary qualification will be advantageous.

Required Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate should have knowledge and skills in:

  • Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Microsoft 365 support.
  • VDI
  • Desktop, laptop, printer, peripheral, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Basic networking, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Remote support tools.
  • Basic IT security awareness.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical users.
  • Practical problem-solving and time management.
