Reporting Structure
The Senior Investment Specialist reports to the Head of Wealth or Executive: Wealth Management. The role collaborates functionally with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) & Investment Team, Wealth Managers, Compliance & Risk teams, Operations, and Product & Platform Teams to ensure seamless integration and oversight across the division.
3. Core Accountability Areas
Portfolio Suitability & Oversight
- Review client portfolios for alignment with mandates, risk profiles, objectives, liquidity requirements, and approved frameworks.
- Identify and escalate portfolio drift, concentration risks, inappropriate allocations, implementation inconsistencies, and suitability concerns.
- Ensure consistent portfolio implementation across the wealth division.
- Maintain strong investment governance and portfolio integrity standards within wealth portfolios.
Investment & Portfolio Support
- Provide technical investment support to Wealth Managers.
- Assist with sophisticated portfolio construction, customization, transitions, and implementation of approved strategies.
- Interpret and apply CAM house views, model portfolios, and investment frameworks.
- Support portfolio positioning discussions and investment rationale.
Security & Model Interpretation
- Maintain a strong understanding of approved securities, model portfolios, collective investment schemes, ETFs, listed investments, and implementation approaches within CAM Wealth.
- Support discussions on market developments, security positioning, portfolio changes, and investment opportunities within governance frameworks.
- Contribute technical investment insight during portfolio reviews and client engagements.
Wrapper & Implementation Expertise
- Maintain practical understanding of approved investment wrappers, retirement structures, offshore platforms, discretionary portfolio structures, and implementation solutions.
- Support effective portfolio implementation across platforms and structures.
- Assist Wealth Managers and clients in understanding portfolio implementation implications.
Sophisticated Client Engagement
- Participate selectively in client engagements requiring technical investment expertise.
- Support Wealth Managers during complex portfolio discussions, bespoke investment conversations, and detailed client engagements.
- Build client confidence through clear communication of portfolio positioning, investment rationale, risk considerations, and implementation approaches.
- Engage directly with sophisticated and high-net-worth clients when appropriate.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical investment guidance and support within the wealth division.
- Support improvement in investment consistency, portfolio understanding, and technical capability.
- Contribute to a strong investment culture aligned with CAM’s philosophy and governance standards.
Governance & Authority
The Senior Portfolio Specialist operates within approved CAM investment philosophies, house views, governance frameworks, investment universes, and delegated authority parameters. The role may recommend and implement approved portfolio adjustments within authority limits and frameworks. Final client advice remains with the appropriately authorized Wealth Manager, in accordance with CAM’s governance structures.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Investments, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
Preferred Professional Qualifications
- CFA
- CFP
- Other relevant investment qualifications
Experience
- 7–12 years relevant experience in wealth management, portfolio implementation, investment advisory, portfolio analysis, discretionary portfolio support, or related investment environments.
- Strong practical understanding of portfolio construction, investment markets, portfolio suitability, wealth investment products, wrappers, and portfolio implementation structures.
- Experience with sophisticated/high-net-worth clients, bespoke portfolios, and technical investment discussions is advantageous.
