Introduction
Bank Gaborone seeks an accomplished, commercially astute and values-driven Managing Director to lead the Bank’s strategic, financial and operational performance and position it for sustained growth and long-term value creation in Botswana. The incumbent will be accountable to the Board of Directors of Bank Gaborone and will report functionally to the Chief Executive Officer of Capricorn Group.

Role deliverables

  • Provide purpose-led and values-based leadership to the Bank.
  • Partner with the Board and shareholders to shape the Bank’s vision, purpose, medium- and long-term growth ambitions.
  • In partnership with the Executive Team, shape and drive the Bank’s strategic direction through a clear, executable and measurable business plan.
  • Drive sustainable financial performance, operational excellence, a high-performance culture and compliance with applicable legislative and governance and regulatory standards.
  • Take overall accountability for managing and mitigating financial, operational, credit, market and related risks through robust controls and disciplined execution.
  • Safeguard the Bank’s assets, reputation and long-term sustainability through sound governance, prudent decision-making and full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion the Bank’s people strategy to build leadership capability, talent depth and organizational performance.
  •  Be a key ambassador for the Bank with investors, regulators, clients and other stakeholders, and serve as its spokesperson at relevant engagements.

Minimum requirements

Minimum requirements
• An appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• A relevant postgraduate or professional qualification will be an added advantage.
 
Experience, knowledge and skills
• A minimum of 7 years’ executive management experience in a medium-to-large financial services institution.
• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant commercial banking experience,
• A strong track record in leadership, business growth and stakeholder management.
